Our Origins
Through its podcast handle YehHaiINDIA, the initiative shares stories of community‑driven solutions from across India, showing how local ideas and collaborations can turn problems into progress. My purpose has always been strongly rooted in culture and identity. iHERITAGE was born from the desire to reconnect people with their heritage, streets, architecture, and stories, so that citizens feel proud of where they come from and responsible for preserving it. Alongside this, SADAK focuses on road safety and pedestrian rights, advocating for streets that respect every user, especially the most vulnerable.
The environment is another pillar of this journey. PRITHVI works to protect and restore our natural resources, especially soil and water, while promoting sustainable habits in everyday life. From there, my path led naturally to CHIDIYA GHAR, a space that nurtures love for birds and urban biodiversity, inviting children, youth, and communities to observe, learn, and care for the natural world—turning curiosity into conservation.
Over time, this work has moved from local streets to global platforms. Patiala Foundation has held Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (UN ECOSOC) since 2018, enabling active participation in UN processes. Through written submissions and oral statements at the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG), including the Human Rights Council and ECOSOC Partnership Forum, I have been able to highlight issues such as road safety as a human right, cultural rights, and environmental protection on the international stage.
All these initiatives are stepping stones on the same road: a road where people feel connected, empowered, and responsible for each other and for the planet. This is why our motto is “Connecting People, Building Communities.” It reflects not just what Patiala Foundation does, but what my own journey stands for: bringing people together through mobility, service, safety, heritage, environment, and citizen‑driven storytelling, so that every project becomes a bridge to stronger, more caring communities.
The Road to Purpose
Growing up in Punjab, I saw every day how ordinary people struggled with unsafe roads, shrinking public spaces, and limited opportunities, despite their hard work and resilience. That reality sparked a question that shaped my life: how can we turn everyday problems into citizen‑led solutions?
In 2009, I founded Patiala Foundation with a simple belief: when people are given dignity, voice, and safe spaces, communities transform themselves. That belief first took shape through Patiala GreenCABS, providing safe, dignified livelihoods to cycle‑rickshaw pullers while offering eco‑friendly mobility to citizens, and grew further through iSEWA, serving the underserved and creating support systems for those usually invisible in urban planning.
As my journey continued, it became clear that behaviour and public narrative are just as important as services. “It’s Not Funny” emerged as a citizen journalism platform that gives people a voice on road safety, civic issues, and everyday injustices often ignored in mainstream discourse.
"Our vision is to weave a safer, more vibrant Nation where road safety is a shared value, our heritage is a living legacy, and every individual has the livelihood to thrive with dignity."
